Website Domain Names
Obtaining the domain name of your choice To publish your website on the net you need to register an available domain name (asap - or you may find that someone else will acquire it!). We can register it on your behalf if you prefer. (See our charges domain fees ). Your domain can be up to 64 characters long including the three or four letters after the dot ( . ) However, it is much better to have a short and meaningful domain; after all you want people to be able to remember it! You can use a combination of digits, letters in upper or lower case (or a combination) and hyphens, but not spaces. Thus, domains like "yourdomain.com" and "your-domain.com" are valid, while "your domain.com" is illegal (no space permitted). Registering your domain name If you wish to register a name yourself you need the services of an approved registrar, we recommend using: ABCreg offer cheap domain name registrations with an easy access personal control facility, so you may set up your nameservers as required. N.B. Many domain registrars offer a seemingly cheap domain name registry service. This is because they want you to use their web hosting services (which generally are more expensive than ours).
